We are honoured that the jury of the 2026 Prémio Secil de Arquitetura has chosen the Matosinhos Library for this year’s award.

A public building of rare restraint, in which daylight is treated as the primary civic material.
The prize belongs to the whole team, to our engineers at AFA Consult, to the contractor Teixeira Duarte, and above all to the librarians of Matosinhos, who told us on our first visit that they simply wanted a quiet room.
An exhibition of the library’s drawings and models opens at the Casa da Arquitectura in April.
