(01) Overview
Six affordable row houses for a housing cooperative, alternating dark and pale cladding along a steep street.
The cooperative’s budget was fixed at €1,450 per square metre. We spent it on what lasts: thick walls, deep window reveals and generous ceiling heights, and saved on everything that can be added later.
Pitched roofs, straight lines
Each house has a single pitched roof that follows the slope of the street. The ridges step down the hill, giving every home an attic room with a north light for work.
The alternating cladding — charred timber and white fibre cement — lets each family recognise its own door without any decoration.
